Who can I get to help me lose weight?

Have you been thinking about working with a coach, dietitian or nutritionist to help you  gain control of your  weight and kick the habit of emotional eating? If so, then this blog is written just for you!

When it comes to your health and in particular  mindset and food it’s really important that you find someone with the skills, experience and passion to help you succeed.

So take a moment now to read this article so that you can be well informed and feel confident when choosing which type of practitioner to work with to help you  feel in control of your eating so that you can fit back into your clothes again.

And while I do help  women in their 40s who are struggling with the very issue you’re facing, this blog isn’t about me – a hypnotherapist.

I have written it to make sure that you know how to choose the right practitioner, for you – because the relationship between you  and your  coach, nutritionist, dietician or perhaps hypnotherapist is super important for results.

Nutritionist…dietician..weight loss coach…hypnotherapist?

When deciding between different professionals  to work with, you might feel overwhelmed and unsure of who you need to see.

It’s confusing knowing the difference and who to choose to help you.

Below, I’ve outlined the differences between different types of practitioners so you can see which might be the best fit for you.

How do nutritionists help with weight issues?

Firstly let’s  look at the role of  nutritionists. You would be best to see a nutritionist for weight loss if you are generally healthy, have no underlying medical conditions, and are looking for general guidance on nutrition and weight management.

Nutritionists can provide valuable advice on healthy eating, portion control, and meal planning to support weight loss goals.

They can help you make sustainable lifestyle changes  and develop a customised plan.

Can a dietician help me lose weight?

If someone has complex medical conditions or needs specialised dietary advice, they may be better off seeing a registered dietitian for weight loss guidance.

Dietitians are qualified and regulated healthcare professionals who specialise in food and nutrition.

They are trained to provide evidence-based nutritional advice and support to promote good health and prevent and treat illnesses.

Dietitians typically have a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.

They base their recommendations on the latest scientific evidence and tailor them to each individual’s unique needs and circumstances.

What do weight loss coaches do?

Weight loss coaches typically provide motivation, support, and accountability to individuals trying to lose weight.

They may not have formal education or training in healthcare, but they often have personal experience with weight loss and may have completed a certification training in coaching and nutrition.

Weight loss coaches can provide motivation and support to help individuals stay on track with their weight loss goals.

They offer encouragement, accountability, and guidance throughout the weight loss journey.

They can help with behavioural change and can focus on helping individuals make sustainable lifestyle changes, such as adopting healthier eating habits, increasing physical activity, and managing stress.

Weight loss coaches often provide personalised support tailored to an individual’s specific needs, preferences, and goals.

Can hypnotherapy help me lose weight?

A weight loss hypnotherapist helps clients understand their relationship with food, their eating habits and emotional triggers.

When the client becomes super relaxed  in hypnosis they are able to respond  effortlessly to suggestions in relation to the sustainable healthy lifestyle  changes that they desire.

Hypnotherapists are able to help clients work on changing their mindset around food which makes it easier to stick to healthy eating patterns in the long term

Hypnotherapy for weight loss isn’t a  quick fix and typically works best when it’s part of a comprehensive weight loss programme that includes healthy eating, regular exercise and other lifestyle changes.

Finding the right practitioner for you.

Make sure you know what you need help with, so that you can decide who will be the best fit. For example, if you struggle with managing your diabetes then a dietician is  the right type of practitioner that is going to be able to help you most.

Look for someone who has direct experience working with others who have the same concern as you. Many practitioners have special interests in certain health problems or types of patients, and they have extra training and methods to help.

For example, in my hypnotherapy practice I have developed specific packages for women over 40 who are struggling with anxiety during perimenopause and they use food as a stress reliever.

My approach  includes a thorough assessment of the client’s current health status and an  easy to follow comprehensive online training programme to support their knowledge of a healthy lifestyle.

My background as a nurse and mental health nurse brings added knowledge to my Hypnotherapy  and Nutrition Diplomas.

I use hypnosis to help clients to cope with stress and anxiety which helps them to access the problem-solving part of their brain.

I work with women who have tried working with many other professionals before and they feel stuck because they can’t put their knowledge into practice. I keep things simple, positive and solution focused

Using hypnosis is  key to my approach to helping women kick unwanted habits and get the best results. I am client focused so I tailor my approach to the client’s needs. I can help clients with healthy eating as well as mindset issues.

If you’re not sure if someone has the right training and experience with your issue when you look at their website or social media, then make sure you ask them.

What are you willing to invest (time and money)?

The investment in working with a professional  who supports clients to manage their weight for a  four-month programme can vary depending on factors such as the qualifications of the professional, the level of support provided, and the location.

On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from £500 to £2000 or more for a comprehensive four-month programme.

One thing I will say is that healing takes time – and you can’t expect even the most expert health practitioner to be able to help you with weight issues in midlife  in one or two sessions. There is no silver bullet when it comes to the human body.

It’s important that you realise you need to put in the work and the time – otherwise you’re wasting time and money.

So where do I fit in?

I’m not the practitioner for everyone. But if you’re reading this article, you might wonder what my services are and how I fit in with all this.

The way I have package up my services for women in midlife experiencing perimenopause, symptoms such as anxiety and weight is all designed to help you get the best outcomes in the shortest amount of time possible.

Over many years working with women in midlife coping with the stress of careers, family life and the menopause, I know that it generally takes 4 months of support to see a difference.

For example, you start wearing smaller clothes, sleeping 8 hours a night, having more energy to do the things that give you joy – be that going for a morning walk with friends, guilt free meals out or perhaps researching new recipes.

I also know that we need to look at various areas of your lifestyle to really address the key reasons you might be experiencing  food cravings, anxiety and brain fog for example  so we can help manage them.

The first step is all about recognising  what’s happening in our brains that lead to us to act in ways that are sabotaging our health.

My clients typically find this helpful because  they immediately feel a sense of relief as they see reasons for what’s happening to them  in an easy, clear, yet scientific way.

I help clients set realistic and achievable goals and I use  simple yet powerful therapeutic techniques grounded in the latest neuroscience to help them focus on their strengths and as they notice what’s working well already they know what to do more of.

We address the emotional triggers that lead to overeating as clients begin to see new ways of coping with life’s stress and strain. I empower clients to devise their own unique tangible steps forward to success at every session.

My accompanying self-paced online course is part of the process that teaches clients all the elements that they need for a healthy lifestyle. I have both a group programme and a private client package.

We cover the nutrition essentials, hormones, sleep, stress management, food and mood, movement and active living, self-care, relationships and more.

I am a results-based practice and so I don’t skimp on anything. I have expertly designed my programmes to ensure that my clients get the best outcomes possible.

Because of this, I need my clients to commit to a minimum of 4 months and my packages start at £797 for the group programme.
